The Chinese Radio in France (LCF) has done us the honor to interview Cecile Dekeuwer, President of WeCo, about the purpose of WeCo, the innovative solution developed by the company allowing the recycling of excrement on site and to offer eco-friendly, innovative, off grid toilets without consuming water. The interview also exposes WeCo projects in China, a country privileged from the beginning by the founder Cecile Dekeuwer because of the toilet revolution that has been in place since 2015.
This program Toilet Revolution in China is very ambitious. 70,000 toilets have already been built or renovated. And a new target has been set for 2020: to build or renovate 64,000 other public toilets, particularly in tourist areas to enhance the attraction of the country. It is in this context that WeCo received in 2016 the prize of excellence for its ecological and design toilets from the National Tourism Agency of China.
WeCo technology and expertise and networks in Asia, especially in China and South Korea, make it a player that will become important in those countries where ambitions for ecological and modern toilets are enormous. The issue of odors is also central in toilets and the technology developed by WeCo addresses these fears, since the electrochemical treatment of producing chlorinated derivatives to kill pathogens produces a smell that is more like chlorine than waste water.
